Ramadan rewards
August 13, 2010
It’s 3:22am right now. Kinda early! I’m up in order to eat some good food and drink LOTS of water in preparation for Day of Fasting #2, Ramadan 1431/2010. Yesterday went really well, I didn’t get too hungry and when I was even a little hungry, it didn’t last very long. I’ll attribute that to the 1/2 cup of lentils and 1/2 cup of rice that I ate yesterday morning around this same time. And to being able to drink water for the entire day prior. We’ll see how today goes…
But, the day is already off to a great start. The temperature has dropped dramatically from yesterday and the days before. At the moment it’s only 79°F in my salon. Better than yesterday’s 90°+. Not that I have anything to complain about relative to other PCV’s whose sites are much farther from the ocean… It’s still hard, though, when it’s that hot.
Even better than that, perhaps, is the fact that I just saw 12 shooting stars in about as many minutes. Tonight is supposed to be the best night for the Perseids this year, and I’d say it’s definitely a decent night to catch some meteors! I saw most of mine out my window, looking towards the horizon in the west, but saw a few up on the roof too. One of the great benefits of living in the boonies in Morocco is being able to see the stars so well. The Milky Way is a constant figure in my nightlife here. I even see random shooting stars on a regular basis.
Anyway, it’s nice to have little perks to make getting up BEFORE the crack of dawn seem a bit more worth it. I know this water I’m chugging will be crucial to my happiness for the next 14 hours. Now I better turn my focus back onto some food.

Seeing all those stars and the milky way sounds really nice
